Council

I am a council member of The Air Element coven. I find it hard to do our jobs with power so limited to only editing/deleting forum post. I think we should also have the power to edite/delete the coven Book Of Shadows that other spells has been added. I know there is a lot of fluffy spells and our Priest and Priestess are far to busy to remove them. Also give us some kind of power in coven chat, with the Priestess and Priest both in school keeping peace is hard. I know this is not our jobs however there is not reason we the council should have to deal with this on our own. I am not saying remove our Priestess and Priest from power they are very good Priestess and Priest just give us something more to work with.

The only people that really have any control in chat is the admin and moderators (possibly editors).

But it would be nice for council to be able to assist more. Being a priest/priestess can be difficult, even online. Hopefully your concern will be acknowledged and something good will come of it :)

Where do you get they control the chat? Most they can do is kick someone out of the group.

You have to be very knowledgeable to remove spells. Be happy with your position. You are helping your coven. Isn't that enough? That's the point of being council. Don't be so power hungry. lol

Honestly, here in AwD, we have some fluffy spells. I can't get rid of them because the permissions for p/p to do that have been cut. Even if they weren't cut, I wouldn't necessarily want them in the hands of just anyone.

As I've led a coven a few times, I've learned to promote wisely, but even then I can't prevent everyone from slipping through. I've had some bad ones, and it's those bad ones I wouldn't want to give the power to edit spells like I can.

Maybe instead of trying to gain power for yourself, speak to your p/p about your concerns and ask them if they'll submit your edits to the spells. That way you can get your spellbook possibly fixed (more on that in a bit), and not need to complain about your p/p and their lack of being online due to education.

I get advised by my council on all our coven members. This means that if council sees member acting out in our chat, they tell me what member did. They have the power to mail member about what they are doing and they can tell member to stop or they'll report it to me. If something gets as far as me, that usually means that I need to put my big girl panties on and have a serious talk with or remove member .

I've only ever had one moment of it being necessary to remove a member for their misbehavior since taking over the coven in November. We also have no additional rules beyond the Terms of Use, and are more relaxed in our chat rules than most covens. So I'd say that maybe your coven needs a revamping to remove people who would cause the issues that are stressing you out.

I think you should really talk to your p/p before you continue this on any more. As what you are requesting might have a work around.

If you decide to go the route where you edit the spells for your p/p and submit the edits to them, please keep in mind that there are rules to it. They must be:

  • Grammatically accurate
  • Not contain any usernames
  • Include citations as necessary
  • Not change the whole

And even then you aren't guaranteed that it'll be accepted.
