New Year's Full Moon

Just a heads-up:

There will be a full moon on January 1st. That is, it will be full enough on New Year's Eve to consider full.

If you want to do anything witchy for the new calendar year, you've got that to work with, too.

I know many people don't pay attention to moon phases until the day-of, so here is some advance knowledge for the sake of any preparations anyone might want to make.

A brief update, in part to bump the thread as New Year's Day is so near:

There will also be a blue moon, depending on your part of the world. The second full moon may officially fall on the 31st of January, or the 1st of February. This means it is technically full enough to call full on the 31st for pretty much everyone, making it a blue moon (two full moons in one month).

Not to mention the second full moon is another Supermoon, meaning that the moon is at its closest point to Earth again.

To top it all off, there will be a total lunar eclipse on that same night, the 31st, when the moon passes through the Earth's shadow, giving it a very red appearance.

That's right:

New Year's eve is a full moon (full enough; the full moon is officially on the 1st)

The 31st will show a full moon, which is a blue moon and a blood moon.

It seems I may have been mistaken. Both moons in January may well be considered Supermoons.

The last moon is still both blood and blue.
