1st Ouija Board Use
By:
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on making the first time using an Ouija board go as smoothly as possible. I am, of course, a novice witch, but I have been practicing magick for about 3 years.

I'm planning on having quartz, sage, lavender, and silver on the board for protection and wearing my pentacle for added safety. I'm not going to use it in my home or alone.

Any tips or advice?

Thank you so much in advance!

I'm hesitant on the ouija board. With you being a novice, and there's nothing wrong with that, you've got something in possession that can very powerful and easily persuasive. My best suggestion is to find someone that has experience with a ouija board and see if they will let you maybe sit on a session or teach what you need to know. Once you feel comfortable and you can decipher a little better then by all mean have fun! Now this is just my opinion and it doesn't mean I'm right and if you feel ready then go for it. Blessed be love

the main key is in being specific in your intent of using the board, and declaring both what you will allow, and what you will -not- allow to be present.

Using an open invitation like 'is anyone there?" or "Will anyone come speak with me" is usually the source of many of the problems. Asking for anyone means that literally -anyone- can come in and say hello. it is like walking into an empty park downtown and firing a flare into the sky to see who comes to investigate. It could be a cop (protector), it could be a vagrant (lost soul), it could be a relative, or it could be a nut looking for someone to hurt, and it would all depend on who was closest and happened to notice.

While asking for someone specific, like a family member associated with the home, or a guide, or a helping/positive entity, would be more like making a phone call. only the intended recipient gets the call to see if they will come and visit.

For a first attempt I would suggest being very specific, and asking for a spirit or guide you are already familiar with if you can. or, at least being specific in asking for a positive, healing, guiding spirit. it would also help to declare that any entity that arrives must speak truthfully, and have no malicious or harmful intent.

I would recommend making sure you are stable enough to use the board at all, such as your mental state. Crystals are a great way to start using an Ouija board, you may say any prayers as you please to have someone looking over you while the session is performed. This is optional, but I recommend doing a protection ritual before doing anything with the board to make sure all goes well. One must still know and have mastered all the basics before using one to use it for its actual purpose. Another thing, respect the spirit, you don't need to know how it died or very personal things of the spirit, the spirit does have feelings too, and has more power than the user.
