Cast iron nail in a spell

Hello. I am a beginner and bought a Spell Bible. I am doing a spell that calls for a "cast iron nail", but just to draw an outline of an eye on a white candle. The book says "many of the ingredients, tools, and techniques used are adaptable to a variety of uses and purposes". Does this mean I can use any kind of nail? Thank you in advance for your help.

Well, if it calls for a cast iron nail, then i would imagine that you should try to use a cast iron nail. When it says adaptable, im thinking that it means that those specific ingrediants aren't only needed for that spell and that they are used in many other spells.

I'm just hoping that one ingredient doesn't blow the entire thing. But I did find out the nail I have is iron - it is magnetic so it should do. thank you

of course I'd like to use what it said, but they are impossible to find. It says adaptable, but it wasn't talking about that specific spell. It was in the beginning of the book & talked about the entire book in general.

Nails were never made of cast iron; they would snap very easily! Nails, in the old days, were "wrought", in other words, hammered to drive out the impurities in the iron. It maybe that the instructions were to "cast" an iron nail! Not use a "cast iron nail". Of course I may be entirely wrong; and it might mean a "cast iron nail", but you would never be able to find such a nail!

It clearly says to use one cast iron nail. So I just used a black nail that was magnetic. the best I could do. I went to a hardware store before and asked if they had one, they looked and said no so it must exist. I then did a search on the Net and it said it is very hard to find, so I guess it does. But what I used will have to do. Thank you for answering!!!

A hardware store would describe a wrought iron nail as a cast iron nail. Nails these days are "stamped" out of steel wire, and as they are iron, they will be magnetic. Wrought iron nails are still made, to order, from blacksmiths. They are very large, in the old days used in ship building.
