Reversing Oil

Post # 1
I posted this in a different are of the forum, but it's been up for a couple of days without response. I was directed to the Herbalism forum by another member and told that it might be a better venue to find such a recipe. My original post:

For several weeks, I've been researching recipes for Reversing Oil for use in anointing a double action candle in a spell I'm planning. I'm aware of several locations online to buy it already made, but I'd really love to make it myself (both for cost and for the added power). However, I cannot find a single, complete recipe anywhere.

I actually found this [SoM] website while looking for such a recipe and it appears that there are a number of Hoodoo practitioners on here. Are any of you willing to give me even a generic Reversing Oil recipe? I understand vendors not wanting to list all of their secret ingredients, but I'm just looking for the most basic version. The only list I've managed to find so far calls for lemon, rosemary, rose, and peppermint oil, but others have not included any of these and instead use cinnamon, clove, and other stronger oils.

I appreciate any responses.

Alright there is a procedure for making oils the hoodoo way, first off each ingredient is prayed over and you ask God (however you choose to see it) as well as the spirit of the plant to do what you need it do to do. The reason you will not find recipes so much as guidelines is each practitioner has their own recipes with some ingredients that are similar to others, you are using a lot of intuition here and some faith in picking the herbs.

Interesting. That's been pretty opposite to my experience in Hoodoo (as in ingredients are chosen on a basis of intuition and not tradition).

I have made several different reversing oils over the years. As with all magical items one makes, no two are ever exactly the same. Below is a list of some of herbs and such that I have used while making reversing oils;

Lemon peel, clove, rosemary, nettle, rue, and mint

amber and obsidian

Actually Katharine that is what I said, what I was trying to explain was the way in which it was prepared so that it might help you get more effectiveness out of your oil.

So Maybe I was thinking that I did not explain myself well enough in the first post I made so I will reword it.

Recipes are subject to individual practitioners as they use intuition and speak directly to the spirit of the plant as Hoodoo is also an animist tradition that believes that each part of the earth has its own spirit, they put their ingredients together based on this premise, so therefore you will not find complete recipes only outlines and lists of herbs that might be used however it us up to the individual practitioner to decide that.

The way the items are prepared before putting them in the oil, is they are each individually prayed over.

I wasn't asking how to blend oils, though. Just for a list of oils used in traditional Reversing blends. Lucky Mojo and other smaller suppliers are great, but too expensive for me at the moment, so I just wanted to make my own. That being said, I'm a firm believer in Hoodoo traditions that have existed for decades. I was only curious if someone had such a basic, barebones recipe. I find it hard to believe that all Reversing oils are made based on the individual's intuition, as the lack of coherence would result in a huge lack of power. But I could be wrong -- I've only been practicing Hoodoo for two years, and it has been quite different than my other years witchcraft practice. I still have more to learn.

Thank you, but still -- was only looking for a list of oils used in Reversing oil, with hopefully multiple answers so I can compare to what I've found on my own to check for consistency (if any exists at all; so far it doesn't). I'm not asking how to practice Hoodoo. I appreciate you taking the time but it's completely unnecessary.
