Squibs?

In Harry Potter squibs are the children of wizards who failed to develop magical ability. While I believe that magic is latent in all of us, I want your input to test my theory (there may be some wiccan in my bloodline, so I want to be sure). Has anyone met or heard of a relative of a magic user who simply could not learn magic?

Wicca is a religion. Religions are not genetic.

I agree with Zebrah.

Some people may not learn magic the way you learn it. They just have to go about finding the best way for them to learn and perform their workings. I know someone who can not do chakra work through meditation, so she does alternative methods to work with the chakras.

It is like learning styles. We all learn through different methods. I learn best through listening, reading, and writing things (auditory and writing/reading). My sister learns best through seeing and physically doing something (visual and kinesthetic). Why is magic any different?

while some people may not be able to practice magick due to some mental disorder or the like, magick is not genetic, and having magick or "muggle" parents really wouldn't affect the offspring as to whether or not they could perform magick.

This is my theory.

Natural abilities in magick (natural/born witch) is half bloodline and half your spirit/soul's past. When we practice magick, we have a higher amount of energy running through us. I believe it only passes down from mother's to children, then daughters to their children. A witch or intuitive/sensitive doesn't stop being one while pregnant, and I feel that while the child is developing within their womb, it also experiences that energy and this effects the child's natural ability to sense energy and manipulate through thoughts/emotion (later in life) without any teaching or training. From the very beginning of consciousness within the womb, a child is experiencing first hand the feeling of the spirit world/high energy through their environment (their mother's body). If a fetus can recognize it's mother's voice, develop through the nutrition that it's mother eats, share a physical bind to its mother (the umbilical cord), why not the aura of his/her mother?

Now as for someone who could not learn magick within a magickal family, I would say that the second half is not complete. Their soul has never touched magick previous to the life. And psychologically it could have more to do with their perspective/personality than their innate abilities. Someone with low self esteem issues among many other possible inbalances of the mind, could have difficulty picking up magickal practise.

Thank you all for your replies. You have confirmed that the ability to practice magick is not genetic and, therefore, there is no such thing as a Squib.

Precisely, I mean we have mapped the entire human genome and have found no such "magickal gene", if its not there its not there lol.
