"Fantasy" Sticky.

Ok. I keep seeing people despairing, and being misled, about the number of unrealistic magick spells on this site. So, here is an idea.

We must bear in mind that many members come to the site via spells found on search engines. They are met with an onslaught of spells, that aren't really a correct representation of how most practitioners view magick, as well as a face to the site that belies it's real credibilty.

Right now, there is a rating system. However, on a ridiculous spell, even a poor rating might suggest that success is possible. So, how about the admin. attatch a "Fantasy" sticky to all those 'spells' that clearly are, fantasy?

From there, the site will fall into catagories of 'serious magick' and 'fantasy magick'. Everyone is happy. New members quickly find exactly what it is they are looking for. Hm? :)

I say a "fantasy " sticky would be good but it should only be used by the mods in my opinion. Imagine if a young kid got angry at his spell being marked as fantasy and then went out and marked a bunch of serious spells as fantasy.

I agree, but I also feel people coming to this site will question the reliability of the real spells if there are fake spells to begin with. Like, why even have fake spells on a real magick site, just do away with them. Although in all honesty, it is a good idea.

I agree with Mjvblue as to the site losing credibility by having fluffy spells in addition to having serious spells.

But lets look at the practicality of removing the Fluffy ones completley. Right now we have a rating system as to which members can rate the effectiveness of said spell. But even the fluffy ones receve ratings by assumibly our fluffy members. Now with these fluffy spells receiving positive rating, in all fairness it could be fought that these spells do infact work. Because one of the key pieces of magick is that you must belieave it to work for it to work. And it could be claimed that the ineffectiveness of this spell is fault of your own doing. It would bring to much distrust and conflict against the site`s staff. And also briding the site of people who despite their current state of mind do infact have potential to be positive influences amongst the community here.

Now lets put into the comparison the idea of keeping the fluffy spells and simply just allowing mods and admin to mark them. This would keep these roleplayers semideciently happy and to eliminate any confusion onto the working of such fantasies. Not to mention that the fluffy spells would help attract new people to the scene. Lets say they search on the internet to find a spell to turn them into a vampire. They would run into a spell on this site and would see the fluffy marking and realize magick could not supply them this. But then they would see actuall working spells and realize the actuall uses of magick compared to Hollywood`s view.

So in my opinion just marking thee spells would be better than to eliminate them minus the fact the site losing some credibility.
