A grimoire is a very old book of ceremonial magick (rituals). They are for all purposes. The only ones that I ever use are all the keys of Solomon (demon study). If you are to make your own it would be called a book of shadows (or secrets).

Shadows is right, except for the book of shadows thing.

You can create your own grimoire. Book of shadows is just another term, a fairly recent term, that was first applied to a personal book of spells by Gardner.

Grimoire just means a "book of magick" and has meant so for at least 300 years.

Nowadays people use their book of shadows/grimoire for containing their own personal spells, and reference material for future spell writing instead of writing it like a magickal manual as they used to in the past.

And as you get older the book becomes more books! I have something like a hundred or so note books (and school exercise books!) Full of my teacher's thoughts and training. My own thoughts.Passages from books (many of them). Some of my notebooks are now rather tattered! I keep promising myself that I will "type them up". But I don't seem to have the energy. I must be getting old!

The problem with Grimoires is they aren't manuels or how to's. They're books that somebody with advanced understanding (hopefully!) has created, with the idea that whomever reads it has already understood the basics and is ready to follow the steps they've written.

They're valuable bits of information, but only so much can be gained from somebody elses "answers" without your own experiance and work to back it up.

I have written much on this subject. Yes, reading is wonderful, and does lead to knowledge. But it is very difficult to learn the Craft merely by reading about it. It really needs a personal teacher to "show" how magic works. My teacher hardly ever "told" me about magic (she told me many other things!) She "showed" me.

Girimoires are rituals to call EVOCATE an entity for sharing someting or for asking. All is related to the entity "powers".
Combat ? I can't understand.
Why you need to combat ?
Magick is for knowleadge sharing from the entity to you.
