Constancy Meditation
By: / Beginner
Here's a thought,

Perhaps focusing on the constancy of something in our surrounding environment would help us reach states of meditation? I mean something such as the constant ticking of a clock or metronome. Or would that be bad to focus on something external? Please post your thoughts and input.

I think external things are very helpful sometimes, It comes down to personal choice, I find the sound of hard rain off my window extremely relaxing and beneficial, I've said it before and I'll say it again there is no right or wrong way to meditate only the way that is best for yourself :)

Thank you for your input. I was unsure because I'd heard that to correctly meditate you need to focus inwards.

there is no such thing as a correct way to meditate ''close your eyes and breath'' that is enough. Ive meditated in busy streets and sounds of loud people, meditation is about focusing on the nothingness or visions to places. concentration is like a pure empty bowl. wisdom and understanding are the food that fills the bowl and nourishes the heart.

I was searching the internet on ways to meditate years ago and found one that involved letting your eyes unfocus your eyes on the flame of a candle and then letting the rest of your mind go. It works well for me so it all depends on personal preference.
