Book idea

I have this urge to write a new pagan/wiccan for beginners book that covers all topics in a simple way. Do you have anything you had wished you knew or advice for a new pagan/wiccan that would be good for this kind of book? I am thinking of breaking it down into a book series.

Such a book has already been published; A Witche's Bible, by Janet & Stewart Farrar. There are a few other similar books for beginners.

Though if nobody has written a book called witchcraft, sorcery & other magical arts for dummies, I could have used one. I spent years looking for a simple book without all the religious dogma of Gods & Goddesses, ceremony and big words I had to research to understand. Why can there not be a simple way to explain grounding and drawing energy up out of the earth to use in magical practices?

The original Post is referring to Pagan/Wicca, not witchcraft.A totally different subject. There are many books on Wicca, for beginners as well as advanced.

Yes I realize that but since wicca has so many books, I was suggesting not writing a Wiccan one but one for basic witchcraft, sorcery, or wizardry instead.

I think any creative project is a good idea. That being said, if your book doesn't have a unique selling point then their will be less people willing to purchase it, as there will be nothing to distinguish it from all of the other books for beginners out there.

The Witches Bible by the Farrars was written almost 20 years ago.

I think if you are called to write this book, then write it.

There have been new ideas and more eclectic practices that have become quite acceptable. As well as modern practices that today's young Wiccans can appreciate. I think many beginners and new seekers can benefit from a fresh perspective.

So, because a book was written 20 years ago it is now invalid? In that case just about every book in existence is useless. And that includes the Bible, the Koran, and the books of Gerald Gardner and Alex Sanders.
The only reason for a new book is if the author has something "new" to say on the chosen subject.

With all due respect Brysing I do not completely agree. As new information becomes available, new books are needed to include it. Plus many do not agree with things in print today as archeology and science is ever discovering new things about old beliefs. A book 20 years back may not include all aspects of tradition but a singular view, whether Wicca, Druidry or Christian.

I did not say that new books were not needed.I was making a comment that merely because a book is 20 years old, it is still useful. Also, I am saying that the only reason for a new book is for the author to have new information on the subject.
