Herbalism: Supplies

For the beginners out there who need a little guidance on where to go in herbalism, I have decided to construct this guide (with the help of a little friend named Scott Cunningham) of supplies and what you'll need:

-A knife for magickal practices. It isn't an athame but very close to it. A wooden handle is ideal.

Purposes: Cutting up herbs and cloth, banishing, exorcisms, and enchanting.

-A wand made of wood.

List of woods and magickal meanings:

Apple- Love
Ash-Healing
Elder-Exorcism
Fir-Prosperity
Rowan-Protection
Birch-Blessings
Willow- Moon and wishing Magick

Purposes: Invocation and needs your knife cannot serve.

-Mortar and Pestle.

Purpose: Grinding up your herbs and other materials.

-Heat resisting Pot.

Purpose: For brewing magickal liquids.

-Candles.

Purpose: For ritualistic needs.

Colors and meanings:
Pink- Love
Green-Prosperity/Fertility
Red-Passion/Vitality
Blue-Healing/Peace
Yellow-Intellectualism
Purple-Boosting Psychic and Magickal powers
Brown-Animal Magick
Black-Banishing illness, hexes, and possesion

-Censer or incense burner.

Purpose: Burning Incense for rituals.

-Charcoal

Purpose:To assist in burning the incense.

-Pure virgin oil

-Sea salt

-Spring water

-Eye dropper

Purpose: Blending oils

-Herbs!!!!!

I hope this helped in getting you all prepared. If you want to know more there are many Herbalism books out there. I learned from Scott Cunningham's book of Magical Herbalism, which explains not only how to work with herbs, but the many kinds and their symbolic meaning.

Good Luck guys and Blessed be!

I'm sure it's fine for the knife to have a plastic handle, although many people say plastic doesn't retain energy as well as natural materials.
