Each deck can mean different things (Slightly, depending on what the creator wanted the cards to mean) but the changes aren't too drastic, at lest in my experience it comes down to different wording. So read through the little booklet you get to see what each reversed card means.

In general a reversed card could be the negative power of the card, or a warning of some short, and they come about depending on how you deal your cards. A friend of mine who reads tarot never reverses the cars, he always lines them up the same way, I'm not sure how that effects the reading but that could be an idea of how to take out the variable at least until you're more comfortable at reading the cards and familiar with their normal meaning and reversed meaning.

Hope this helped

Awesome advice Jessie, but let me add right quick that it's always best to just use the booklet as a suggestion and not take it too seriously. Those booklets are just to give you a place to start or a little hint as to how the card could be interpreted.
It's usually best to develop your own definitions as you go along so things make more sense to the person reading them, being EndlessLight in this case.

So Jessie's spot when she tells you every deck can be interpreted differently, even when the cards have the same names/arcana.

that is very good advice from both !!The book is a helpful guide. I have a question for Endlesslight have you actually connected with your cards? What I mean by that is have you actually spent quality time with your cards? I personally and again this is just my opion that the more of your personal energy that is within the deck of cards the more you may feel connected..May I suggest sleeping with your cards under your pillow for several nights. I know may sound really crazy however, I think you may be surprised.

*Brightest Blessings *

i would put the book away and go on your gut instinct to each card, the books was written a very long time ago, feel what feels right for you, a reversed card means either there's a negative issue or there is an emotional blockage that's stopping you from moving forward.
put them under your pillow for a week and shuffle them daily so your putting your energies in to them.

I'd first get acquainted with what the card means through use of the internet and other sources. One of the moderators with a picture of a knight riding a chess piece (sorry I forget his name, but you'll know it when you see it) says on his bio that he is willing to help others with tarot cards, so I'd suggest shooting him a question or two :)

Also the online chatter should be able to help you as a recourse, there are many knowledgeable people here!

Well, when I read reversed cards, I think of it as the same card upright, but in a lesser degree. For instance, if someone pulled the Sun reversed, I would say that there is a lack of clarity in their life. Their question still involves clarity and the querent has some understanding of what is going on in their situation, but they do not understand the whole picture of what is going on and they could know more than if the Sun card was upright. If the Sun card is upright, that means they got the answer, it's that "aha!" moment. If the Sun is reversed, it means they are starting to understand, but not quite there yet. And then depending on what cards are next to the reversed card that also gives a barometer of the energy of that card. I hope this helps. I see reversed cards as opposite in meaning or lesser extent of the upright meanings. Also if I get cards of discordant elements (fire with water or earth and air), it works the same as reversed cards.
