Egyptian pronounciations?
By: / Novice
Okay, I'm going to start by saying that recently I've taken a huge interest in Egyptian culture, particularly Egyptian mysticism. I've found an amazing circle casting technique that I've been dying to try, but it requires the words be spoken in Egyptian. That's where my problem comes in. I don't know how to pronounce the words. All I really need is a sentence, and how to pronounce the names of a few Egyptian deities. If anyone could help me with this, I'd be extremely appreciative.

The main sentence I need to know to pronounce is:
"Anet-hra.k Tuameutev" It means "Homage to thee, Tuameutev."

I'm not 100% certain on how to pronounce the names of the following deities either: Qebsenuv, Tuameutev, Renenet, and Meskhenet.

So yeah, if anyone could help me with that, I'd be very grateful. Thanks. :)

if you mean Qebsenuv the canopic jar, he's the son of Horus, protected by Serket [Goddess of healing poison stings/bites] direction is West and is the keeper of the intestines.

Tuameutev, is that the jackle canopic jar [duameutev is how i know him anyway] another of Horus son's [one myth anyway] direction is East and is protected by Neith [goddess of war and hunting]

as for Renenet, i've always found her slightly confusing, she has a cobra head, some believe she is Sobek's wife, or Geb's wife [more commonly] and others believe she isn't married, she sometimes is also called the mother of Nehebkau [two headed snake that protected certain Gods depending on the myth] but like the whole married thing, others doubt it. Renenet has something to do with new borns [this get's confusing to me] her name can be translated three different ways, the most common is 'she who gives a true name' so a day or two after birth Renenet is said to sit on the infants shoulder and their name will be choosen through some sign. later on things get more confusing since many people throw in the Wadjet as being her.

Meskhenet's easy, goddess of childbirth.

as for pronounciations, since i'm not there you can't hear me say it [which is a good thing cuz i get tounge tied with long sentences] but from what i know it's pronounced 'keb-sin-neff' 'doo-moo-teff' 'ren-en-et' and 'meshk-hen-et' [i don't know how to type out the 'skh' shound it's kind of like a 's' with a little cough sound]

well, i hope i could have helped out, my Egyptology is a little rusty [bout 4 years lol]
