Is there a way to summon an angel without using enochian magic? i find it quite confusing and also i've heard that the spells are not complete b/c the author lost some of his writings in a fire. just dont want to risk calling something else :)

Summon an Angel? well I tend to believe you shouldn't ever Summon an Angel call upon an Angel to help you yes, Summoning something refer's to you actually being the controller of what you summon.
And I dont think Angels are very fond of that, however if you call upon an Angel and ask for their help they will but you must always thank them for their help it is actually only polite to do so anyway :)
An Angel can't help you unless you ask for their help from your heart due to free will they won't intervene unless we ask, except in certain cases mostly life and death situations
So for instance you can call upon Archangel Michael(sometimes it best if you say their name 3 times) if you feel you need courage or protection, you only need to say their name outloud or in your head doesn't really matter and tell them what you need help with, if you are seeking their help they will help you.
There are many different Angels to ask for help.
The earliest known Archangels are known as Michaeal,Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Lucifer(yes The fallen one ironically whos name also means Light Bearer) and Remiel.(from the Book of Enoch)
Then around about the 5th and 6th century they where known as Michael,Gabriel,Raphael,Uriel,Chamuel,Jophiel, and Zadkiel.
Another Catholic variation lists them corresponding to the days of the week as: St Michael (Sunday), St Gabriel (Monday), St Raphael (Tuesday), St Uriel (Wednesday), St Sealtiel (or sometimes Metatron) (Thursday), St Jegudiel, (Friday), and St Barachiel (Saturday).

Of Course this is just my on view on the matter other people may have a totally different opinion on the matter.

I never said you couldn't summon Angels but they do not like being summoned and as the other post said Angels aren't fluffy and with wings some can be very diffulcult to deal with. The only one's I feel comfortable with is Michael and Metatron.

I came across something once about contacting one's own guardian angel. It was from the Mind, Body, and Spirit Collection. It is a company that ships and produces Pagan friendly products. They sent my cousin a binder that had techniques in it that you could try and the above mentioned was one of them.

I have listed that technique here. Try it and let me know how it goes, if you would be so kind.

1. Find a peaceful and quiet spot at which you will not be bothered.

2. Let go of all negative emotions so that your Angel(s) may contact you more easily.

3. Take a few minutes to be thankful for all that you have, think good thoughts, and try to remain relaxed and centered.

4. Breathe deeply. Allow your body to relax even more so on each outward breath. Imagine yourself breathing golden light until you are enclosed in an egg or sphere of gold. (Angels find it easier to connect or contact you when your aura is gold).

5. Mentally ask the Angel to step into your aura and touch you. Expect a physical sensation, or fragrance, or feeling of great love. You may feel the light touch of an Angel wing on your face or a waft of air across your face. Even if you don't trust and believe that the Angel has heard you and come to your side.

6. Now ask the Angel for his or her name. Accept the first name that comes to you. If help is needed you may ask for it.

Note: Remember that your Guardian Angel is always near and ready to assist you when you need it most. With time and effort you may be able to strengthen the bond between the two of you.

Blessed Be and Brightest Blessings,
Kat.

Hi Kat,

Thats is similiar to a method I used awhile ago not exactly word from word like that but similiar, My Guardian Angel's name is Samatha (I wasn't actually expecting that) and I have a Native American guide whos name is Karelinee (thats how he told me to spell it)(Pronoucned Car-e-lean)When I first seen him I was expecting him to say a name like Shadow wolf or something but both those names took me by suprise, at first couldn't understand his name, so had to ask him to spell it for me, Samatha is very warm and humorous towards me and Karelinee is more proud comes tells me what I need to know and leaves.

well summon is kinda of a harsh word for it i think, you should try and call for him/her and let him/her come willingly, my male guardian presented itself to me and i didnt do anything to summon or call him...

@lilavenger:

The Enochian calls are... interesting. Difficult to understand, yes, and like most ceremonial magics, the best rule of thumb is: Don't do it unless you really, really, know what you're doing...

@Kat:

I'd be somewhat suspicious of that technique. You'll probably summon *something*, but whether or not it would be truly angelic is another matter. If it works for you, great - but I'd prefer a little more control over what I was summoning...

--

Best method that I've found of connecting to a guardian angel (as opposed to any of the Golden-Dawn/Thelema HGA rituals, which is something else *entirely*) is through prayer, but then my magickal paradigm is a fairly religious one, so this may not work for everyone.

I appreciate the concern, and I understand where you are coming from. I don't readily trust techniques created by others, as I know not if they are truly reliable. However, I know several individuals who have used this technique and it has worked for them so I believe it to be credible. That being said, if a cleansing and or banishing is done before hand things sould be fine, and from what I know and have read if you are summoning a demon, for example, you need its sigil and name among other things. Therefore I doubt something like that would appear. Though it is better to be safe than sorry. Also, I am not saying that I have ever done so, as I have not.

Blessed Be,
Kat

thank u all 4 ur responses. the reason for me wanting to summon is to meet my guardian angel or a "light" being for protection and guidance. and was looking for an alternative.. i think enochian magic is not only way over my head but i think it doesn't "call" angels, i think it pulls them from where ever they are. one practitioner described an angel's arrival as a gush of wind pushing out of no where. and the angel had sharp teeth.

@ wiccandeity: u know i've heard that once b4... someone i knew a long time ago showed me this website of ppl that practice demonolatry..one of the practitioners stated that he called michael and he was brooding and vague about things he was inquiring about. i wasn't too sure if that was the truth. most ppl that claim they have seen an angel declare a "loving" and warm being.
