hello, i think i'm using my sage wrong since after i light it it goes out after a few seconds, am I supposed to let it catch fire then bow out ? I know it a simple thing to use i'm just having an issue with it staying lit.

I have the same issue, whenever I smudge, especially during outdoor rituals I always carry a candle with me to continuously re-light it.

I think it comes with the territory, without the chemicals to help the burn I think it is just the way it is.

Also it depends on the type of sage and how tightly it is packed. I have a couple different types of smugde sticks and they burn differently but are made by the same company. So I also carry something to relight it.

Pack the sticks like you do with a pack of smokes to tighten the herbs,Native Americans twist the sticks as tight as possible before lighting them, also an old trick, not to old but the past 50 years or so is to spray a very small amount of Hairspray on the Tip to kinda birn through all of the stick in order to burn stronger and keep it lit..A common belief is also that folks with no Native American blood will have issues burning sage since they are practicing without permission of bloodline member,This beliefs is most likely only spoken of in America,as you all know,This is a very racist country when it comes to this topic and the natives now guard their practices with their lives. They don't care to use the little they still hold as their own.
