It probably wasn't dead. Moths and many other insects can live at length in water. It likely wasn't able to move until its wings dried out.

Since everyone is avoiding this topic, I guess I'll give it a shot.

I don't think anything spiritual is going on here, but I do have to say that saving a moth is a true demonstration for love and respect of nature! Bravo!

I have "saved" many insects from drowning, especially as a child. They are just like any other animal in the fact that they become exhausted from struggling and begin to drowned. We can't exactly give them CPR! But if they dry out in the sun or on a paper towel, when they either feel threatened or feel up to the task of moving again, they will fly/walk away.

I have a love for many insects such as lady bugs, lighten bugs, butterflies, moths, and even the occasional tiny spider (big ones cross the line!) and will assist them outdoors if they wind up in my home.

But flies...flies I can't stand! I have a swatter and will smack them unconscious. If they don't die, I will throw them outside. I have proven that insects can become "stunned" although I'm not sure if they are truly unconscious. They won't move for quite some time. But when you touch them they start flipping out.

The reason for this story is to show that this moth may have been shocked by almost drowning and laid there stunned until some giant being (you) picked him up. When he realized that he may become lunch (moth mentality) he took off like a dart. He was probably just recovering and freaked when he realized that he was being moved.

Good job though at saving the little moth's life! Mother nature I'm sure is thankful for your service =)

Congrats on saving the moth! :D Poor little creatures- they only live for roughly 24hrs, so I am glad you saved one.

I really doubt it is anything spiritual, magickal, etc; moths can stay for quite a long time in water. They play dead a lot of the time, and probably just wanted to surprize you! Hehe. It sounds beautiful though.

I hear you on the roaches! I kill them even when I see them outside. They will outlive us all...

I had the displeasure of having them once...just once in an apartment complex. Worst mistake of my life picking that place. The cheapskate landlord wouldn't call an exterminator. I left very quickly. Now I only choose condos.

If you kill roaches don't step on them. Their eggs get on your shoes and you can actually make the problem worse.
