Just as general advice, look for a teacher who has their life in order. One who is successful in magic should be successful in life over all. Good job, nice family, good health. I'm not saying that lacking these means someone is bad at magic, just look to the successful for an example to follow.

Oh,dear, don't look for a teacher on-line. It is just about impossible to teach via the internet; you have to "see" magic to really understand it. The best that anybody can do on-line is to try and answer questions.
Also, magic means different things to different people. Learning it can be a "maze" that you can easily get lost in!
So, ask questions, and then use your common sense to separate the "Chaff from the Wheat".
And seek a teacher in the real world; they are there if you look.

I suggest do some reading on your own first. People will me more likely to help if it looks like you made an effort. Just go through the forums and articles and read whatever looks interesting. Newbies are often told to read the Basics Expanded post in the General Info section.
