I am familiar with both the book and the two people who published it. The book isn't one that I would recommend to anyone trying to learn about spellcraft from a Wiccan perspective. In addition, the authors have a very, very poor reputation in the magical community, being known to lie about their status as Wiccans and for abusing their students. There are far better books out there that you might want to read instead. One you might try would be "Elemental Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells" by Judika Ilkes

No one can exactly "tell you" you're wiccan. It's a choice you have to make yourself and feel comfortable with. My mother used to tell me I was half witch just because she believed in it. It wasn't until many years later I proclaimed myself wiccan. Most of my life I was christain, but there were too many things I didn't feel right about. Religion or your spiritual self should not be based on what others say. It's a journey for you only. If you think you want to take up Wicca or other pagan paths I suggest you research some articles or read a few books in the history of it to see if it's something you want to do :) if you decide it is, there is tons of material out there and people who can help you get started. But in the end everything you do and how you chose to do it is up to you.

P.s. You definitely want to be carful with spellbooks you don't know much about. It's best to have an understanding of something before jumping into it. It can turn out dangerous.

do your research on the authors and research the topics and cross reference with people on this site. Once you know about the topic, read the book and pick out parts that may be fake. Spirituality can be very tricky when it comes to books, that's because usually books go though a validity and accuracy check, but everyone believes in different things, so books on spirituality are generally able to get away with little bits here and there.

So may I ask what changed your mind? What do you actually know about Wicca?

I am sorry you are hurting. My mom always told me that my favorite color is purple. Does that make it so? Only if I make the concious decision that purple is my favorite color. Whether it be, because I truly like purple more than all the other colors or because I miss my mother and want to honor the decision she made for me. I still would have to go through the steps of learning about the color purple and other colors as well to make sure that i want to dedicate myself to it, so that I am not set up to fail.
