Run before walk.
By:
Hi. I have discovered that I am trying to run before I can walk. So I have decided to continue researching, working on meditation, energies and gaining as much info as possible and collect tools and bits along the way. I just wanted to put this out there that I am a beginner who has learnt the hard way that without full knowledge and understanding things either don't work or go wrong. If anyone can suggest good beginner books that would be great as sometimes with the web it can be a little confusing. Thanks

Ths is such a recurring question; maybe we could add a list of books in the newbie section? There were quite nice inputs about books to read in January, Post 488415, by Evilmoon and Lark.

If you're looking specifically for books on magic itself then here are some books that I'd suggest for anyone starting out and trying to build a sound foundation for their practice.

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman
"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar
"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson
"Modern Magick" by Donald Craig

Books of vital importance that I always start students out on are:

Sane Occultism by Dion Fortune (also published as What is Occultism)
The One Year Manual by Israel Regardie
The Chakras by C.W. Leadbeater
The Etheric Double by Arthur E. Powell

LVX,

Shawn.
