The usual cooking herbs are best sown in small plots;mine are in small square planters. But be careful of such as Bay,that grows into an enormous tree! Sage and Rosemary also need space,as they tend to grow into large bushes. There are "dwarf" species of Lavender, smells good and attracts bees.Grow mint in a large pot, it spreads!
As well as veg I grow flowers in between the rows.Marigold petals taste great in salads!
Fruit is not easy to grow, prepare the ground well! And be careful of strawberries! They can cover the whole garden in two seasons!

Difficult to name all the herbs,as your profile doesn't give your location, and different herbs grow in different countries.

I recommend growing roses, chamomile, lemons, lilacs, rosemary, mint, basil, sage, sweet grass, bleeding hearts, and honey suckles.
