Ridiculous posts
By:
So, I just read 100+ forum posts and looked at the profile of each author. What I've found is that about 85% of the original posts can be answered by searching the forums, reading the articles, or (SHOCK!) researching via a search engine.

Of that 85%, more than half are simply ridiculous questions that, had the author researched as mentioned above, they would have found this out for themselves.

However, the real shock is the answer posts. With extremely rare exception, the answering authors are no more intelligent, experienced, or well-researched than the original poster seems to be.

Bottom line, in my humble opinion, is that if you can't be bothered to look for an answer before you pose a question to others, and/or if you don't know what the hell your talking about when you answer a post....quit spamming up the forums with RIDICULOUS POSTS!

It only makes it that much more difficult and frustrating for those of us who actually read & study before opening our mouths when we have to sift through your nonsense.

Thank you & have a nice day! :)

The thing is that we need stricter roleplaying rules. Roleplayers need to be thrown out immediatly. Posts that are repeats should be deleted and the authors given a link to a post that already answers the questions. The AP forum is ridiculous.

Second try on my post! Too many typos for me to tolerate! =P

Excellent observation.

But truly, if you go to any public forum, it will be the same. The reason why this site has so many members is because the posts will show up in the top ten results on google, as long as your search shares the content. That is how I stumbled onto it, and I'm sure how many others have too. If it were harder to access, the experienced would outnumber the unexperienced. To many, a "successful" website is one frequently visited, not necessarily how valuable or precise the information is. I respectfully disagree and think that valuable information is key.

I'm sorry about my previous mutilation of grammar! That's what I get for trying to multitask!

Oh, my apologies, White..I overlooked the principle of quantity over quality.

No need to apologize. I agree with you completely. The quantity of the site is an illusion of the amount of information within. Then it becomes the task of finding a needle in a haystack for those desiring to learn. My only hope is that those researching never accept information blindly and compare it with their own common sense and more extensive research. Google is your friend! But it is always important to check for reliable authors, educational websites, and source references.

completely in agreement with you stoney. one thing i would say though is when i first joined this website it did the world of good for me. whilst searching before asking on here is obviously the better thing to do, when i did i couldnt always be reliant on the source. For example there were a few things on necromancy i wanted to research when i did on google, ask etc i found a lot of what came up were completely unreliable and later found out what i had researched most was written b a mad man. Yet when i came here and asked on the forum i was mailed by some very helpful people. obviously one or two roleplayers who i replyed back two displaying my lack of interest in what they had to say.

I dont think its all bad posting a question on here in the hope of having someone with experience and expertise post something back

I completely agree!

Sometimes people just dont use their common sense and search for things before asking. Its one of those things that really annoy me a lot.

Its not even so much researching anymore as its failing to click open the forum and browsing a couple pages before clicking the new thread button. More time than not the question was asked in the thread right before the new topic.

I couldn't agree more. I see this now more than ever as I have tried to take a more active role on this site.
