Mala Beads

I'm thinking about making my own set of Mala beads to use in my meditations, I make jewellery as a past-time so have a little bit of knowledge on how to make them, but was just wondering if any one else has used them in their meditations and if they have made their own if they have any tips on making them yourself. Thanks.
