If you are new to magick you really need to get a good grasp of the basics before you start trying any spells, the best places on this site are:

Starting Out:http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=71692
Basics Expanded:http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=483942

You will also need to learn what is and is not possible with magick, telekinesis and mind reading are certainly not possible.

I wish you the best of luck.

Technically you have to be born a witch, they can practice the old magick which is more powerful than what we do here.

Actually a witch is simply the name for someone who practices withcraft, both male or female, you can choose whether you want to not not take on the name during your time practicing.

Witchcraft has nothing to do with blood, it is not genetic therefor it would not be passed on.

It may have once been believed that the child of a witch would therefore be a witch, but they could be whatever they wanted, the legacy may have been inherited but nothing else would be.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong...

You don't have to be 'born a witch' infact I doubt anyone is born a witch, witchcraft can be practiced. As for this old magick you seem to be referring to, do you perhaps have any source of such information?

I think what ShifterGirl is referring to what many people call a strong witches intuition? Many people mention something about being born a witch, I suppose the psychology and state of mind or frame of mind has something to do with it than literally being "born a witch". Or having roots with ancestors that also practiced some form or another? Though anyone can be a witch (or practicioner or shaman if they do not go by 'witch')

Ancestor spirits could probably help one be a stronger practicioner or aid in many things, but really I don't think there's any real difference, some people could have strong ties to a certain culture where the practice is very accepted and rampant but if that person's mind is not open to it, they will never develop their talents or practice or studies.

In order to be a witch you must practice. But spells should not be cast unless you know what you are doing. I see you are a beginner? You must learn before you cast spells. I haven't even cast spells yet! I'm still learning. It takes time.
