Am I a shaman?
By:
Hi friends.
I am not new to the magic world. I have been Pagan and a practicer half my life. But now I've read some things and they throw me off. My "power" didn't really show until two years after I started Practicing. I originally thought this was because that's when I really started believing. But I had a near-death experience right before then, and that's how shamans are awakened. All the magick abilities I'm inclined to also have roots in Shamanism. I normally have all the answers but am now confused. Could I have been a shaman all along?
Love, Joss

It doesn't automatically make you a Shaman (even a modern one not associated to the Tungu poeples), however, we cannot say you are or are not a Shaman as that is what you will have to decide for yourself. What is a Shaman to you? What aspects of you identify as Shamanistic and what does not?

I do have plenty of beliefs that coincide, after all.

How you are going to further your path as a Shaman would be the next question to ask yourself.

Thank you, you have helped. I started this thread to bounce my idea off someone, but I can answer that question at a different time.

Thank you very much.

Technically you would be a shamanic practitioner. If you subscribe to traditional methods, you are only considered a fully-fledged shaman once you complete the appropriate training (indigenous rites, training during shamanic journeys, etc).
