Druid Prayer
By:
Post # 1
"Grant O Goddess, thy protection
and in protection, strength
and in strength, understanding
and in understanding, knowledge
and in knowledge, the knowledge of justice
and in the knowledge of justice, the love of it
and in the love of it, the love of all existences
and in the love of all existences, the love of Goddess and all Goodness"

"The Druid's Prayer", after Iolo Morganwg.

When I first began my path four years ago almost, that was the first prayer I used. I found it in Scott Cunningham's book "A Guide to a Solitary Practiconer". Of course, I didn't know where to begin, so I thought prayers might be good.

Interesting you should call this a Drudic prayer. Considering where I've seen it and the emphasis on the goddess, I'd have a guess and say it is more wiccan in nature.

But , non the less its a great prayer!

I understand your confusion many Druids do not honor the Teiple Goddess however some do myself being one of them. This is my version of the Gorsedd Prayer by Iolo Morganwg. Here is the moral traditional version:

"God, impart Thy strength;
And in strength, power to suffer;
And to suffer for the truth;
And in the truth, all light;
And in light, all gwynvyd;
And in gwynvyd, love;
And in love, God;
And in God, all goodness.
And thus it ends."
From the Great Book of Margam.

And here is a longer version in complete English:

"Grant, O God, Thy protection;
And in protection, strength;
And in strength, understanding;
And in understanding, knowledge;
And in knowledge, the knowledge of justice;
And in the knowledge of justice, the love of it;
And in that love, the love of all existences;
And in the love of all existences, the love of God.

God and all goodness."

So yes traditionally the goddess isn't who is honoured in this prayer however I favour the Triple Goddeas and therefore posted it without thinking I do apologise for the confusion.

Apology not needed, it was an observation , far from a critism.
But, that is interesting how one has adapted the prayer to suit you. I like it a lot infact :D
