Black Magic/White Magic?

Okay, so I've been reading a lot on this concept. Many believe that there is such a thing as pure and dark magic, and others believe that magic is just magic, it's not 100% dark or light, and it's just a way of life and a concept of nature. How do you feel about this? What do you believe, and why?

I believe magic has no color.I believe this because 'black' magic is seen as bad magick, and 'white' magic is seen as good.
Well, good and bad is different for everyone.Just as magic is.

I agree. Black and white are normally viewed as bad and good, which depends on the persons opinion honestly. If magick is anything it is grey. Somewhere in between black and white. Because nothing is completely good or evil, especially when it comes to humans. we are a mix of the black and white, making us all some form of grey. So the magick that comes from us is probably going to be grey also.

I believe that since we aren't completely good or evil, we aren't capable of making something that is completely good or evil. Maybe we can come close. Mainly though, the color reference is for personal use, to aid in visualization and help your mindset when working magick.

My opinion about that is if I was casting a lucky spell for my friends,family....to do something that is good like getting a job,promotion,....so I feel that is ok.But not only if my friends were bullied by someone,I will use bad luck spell, feel scary when see my friends spell, make someone feel guilty....to help him/her and that is good too

I believe that the coloured labels given to particular types of spells are entirely based on perception of intent the spell serves- magic itself has no colour. These labels are simply given to ease understanding through association with colour. Typically, black magic is that which involves negative intent and white is positive: but aren't negative and positive open to opinion?

For example, you use a typical 'black' magic spell for a good reason- is it then still 'negative'? Probably not.

However again, a 'good reason' is different to everyone. If someone was harming a friend or family member and you used a 'black' spell on the aggressor, some may argue that it doesn't count as black because your intent was to help. Others disagree, as it is still harming a person. Everything is down to interpretation and personal morals.

Calling it 'black' and 'white' is an easy way to categorize and explain things but once you scratch the surface you'll notice that magick is rather grey and the lines of 'black' and 'white' are blurred.

A love spell to a beginner would be seen as 'white' magick, but then you ask yourself is it a 'attract love to me' spell or a 'make him/her love me' spell. Eventually every spell can be argued as 'black' or 'white'.

I love gathering spells, buying spell books, making spell books, writing and exchanging spells, but people are often surprised to find out I rarely cast spells. This year I've done a job spell for my boyfriend and that's it. I don't need anything so I don't typically cast spells. [Exception to cleansing and protection but that's a regular thing for me] you should really think before you cast. Do I need this spell? Will it effect anyone? If so, good or bad? Things like that, sadly most people cast when there emotions and not their brain is running things. While emotion can add energy to the spell, it shouldn't be the deciding factor. That's why I normally meditate on the question or do a divination if I cannot separate emotion from logic.
