make a compass move

I have been practicing with psi balls. There is a green one for money and opportunity I practice with, then I put a lid on it, so it doesn't dissipate.
I have compasses, and would like to be able to use my energy to move it like the magnet does. Any practice suggestions? (The thread title may be open to sarcasm, but I want to move the compass while it is sitting still)

Why do you want to move a compass? Doesn't make sense to me; serves no purpose. Just wondering...
