Therianthropes

Therianthropy is the deep personal spiritual path (In my opinion), that you have connection to a certain animal (Which may or may not be extinct).

Therianthropes may have a "Spiritual connection" that they believe that they possess one or several animal spirits either that are sharing a body with you or may even just be your soul in general. Most likely if you have many animals sharing a body with you, you wont have a clumped up together soul full of several animal you connect to, but most likely you will just have many animal spirits sharing a body within you.

Some Therianthropes have the mentality of a animal that wasn't thrown away during reincarnation and they have certain animal personality traits. Even if this had happened this dose not mean that this is the only way to have a mentality of an animal, because you can have one even if you share or don't have and animal spirit within you. This mentality can even happen if your past life was an animal an that animal soul that you had didn't reincarnate into a human one after death.

There are many ways that a person can be an Therianthrope but you don't have to be one to practice this belief, in my personal opinion.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion, but have you ever thought of using the word otherkin which relates to smiler things and is accepted a bit more in the meta and mental health community?
I understand there are issues with people thinking otherkin is not accepted and in some ways yes, I find this true, but I don't think it's as much as people think. I think it depends on who you talk to and what you say.

Note: This post comes from an Otherkin point of view. I wasn't actively participating in the community at the time, and this is just what I could piece together. Generally, within the Otherkin and Therian communities, "Otherkin" and "Therians" are considered almost entirely different labels. From my understanding, there was a sort of "split" between the "mythics" and the "animals". By that, I mean that on popular Otherkin/Therian forums, some Otherkin and Therians were harassing each other based on their Kintype or Theriotype. A few Otherkin were being rude to Therians, because Therians were "simple animals". Some Therians were being rude to Otherkin, because Otherkin weren't reincarnations of "real animals". Because of this, the "Therian" division of Otherkin slowly turned into its own group. Although some Therians still called themselves "Otherkin (animal) Therians", Therians and Otherkin were seemingly distant, oftentimes. It became generally accepted to call yourself "Otherkin" if you had a Kintype most people consider a myth (a dragon, an elf, a unicorn, etc) or "Therian", if you had a Theriotype known to be a real animal (wolves, cats, deer, etc). It's generally considered to be incorrect and rather silly to call yourself "Therian" if you're, say, Dragonkin, or (to a lesser extent) call yourself "Otherkin" if you're a wolf. I wasn't actively participating in the Otherkin community at the time this happened, so please, please correct me if this never actually happened or if the details were incorrect. I was just attempting to shed some light on why the OP probably used "Therianthrope" instead of "Otherkin".

Otherkin are totally different than therianthropes they believe that they have past lives or sometime souls of mythological creatures such as faeries and dragons while therains believe in animals :)

Just a suggestion, couldn't someone be both or at the very least have perhaps two souls. Say a Dragon and a wolf in the same body? or perhaps a bear and say one of the fae? This is just a bit of curiousity.

Yes it is possible to have more than one theriotype/kintype, and be both therian and otherkin.
