Weaving Magic

I was looking for patterns on the internet for weaving bracelets and started thinking that it would be a cool (and fun) things if there were bracelets you could weave yourself that had magic properties. maybe a certain pattern or like a chant you say while weaving it but I haven't found anything online (I haven't been looking long though).
I feel like this site needs more arts and craft type things like woven bracelets (obviously) or jewelry and thing like that that you could make yourself, anyone have any ideas or agree?

That is actually a wonderful idea, but not everyone on here is an artsy kind of person. Its also hard to do since we cant post pictures, to show off the end pattern or do steps in pictures. I know reading instructions can get confusing, so i always look for pictures.

I would advise you write a personal spell to enchant your weaving. There are many things that you may desire which others cannot help you get, so you may have to make things happen yourself.

It sounds like a curious idea to me.

Personally, I enjoy weaving bracelets and similar things with runes and other symbols that have meaning to me in my practice (considering that the Norns weave the threads of fate, things of this nature appeal to me).

It would be interesting to see this implemented.

Weaving is one of the oldest magical workings. Whether it is a bracelet, basket, blanket, rug, dream catcher, etc. they are made by hand they hold some form of residual energy from it's creator. Anything that is woven or made by hand has energy being applied to it to make the item as well as the thoughts of the person creating the item. There is a reason that magic is referred to as "the craft". Most forms of magic are connected to a physical craft that is constructed most refer to this type of magic as folk magic. It is everyday and uses many common placed items. This type of magic has been used for thousands of years by all sorts of people who may or may not have practiced ceremonial magic. There used to be a list of "witchcraft" that I created in the newbie central area however I am not sure where it went to. I am sure it is around here somewhere. If you can' find it perhaps I have a copy I can repost.

As kts has posted. This sort of thing has been around for a long, long time. Paintings, drawings, tattoos, weavings, embroidering. Native Americans would paint symbols on tents. Burn symbols into Bison hides, etc. And there are, of course, totem poles!

I enjoy weaving occasionally- I tend to weave Egyptian hieroglyphs that have a symbolic meaning into mine; similar to Personified's way with the runes.

As Kts and Brysing said, weaving is one of the oldest workings of magic.

It isn't an odd idea at all to me. It doesn't matter what I do, from sewing, to crafting, to sculpting, metalsmithing and painting, I always add magick everything I make. You don't necessarily need to chant, I merely focus on the person it is for and the energy/goal I wish for it to have. I use symbolism and color correspondences to further empower the item.

You can chant or sing, but if it takes thought away from your work, don't do it. You should get "lost" in the music/words and your work and only be truly thinking about your goal. I always hum...I have a natural tendency to hum melodies I feel (nothing I've heard) when doing any task, especially art or crafting an object. The melody matches the purpose and I let the music come without thinking about it.

you guys inspired me to sculpt with clay again and make amulets
thanks you guys.
ps. inserting runes in the woven thing is also a good way to make it magickal.
