One more card...

Does the card left on top of the deck after the spread is done mean anything? I was doing a spread one night and after it was done I just got the urge to look at the next one card and when I turned it up it was Death. I know that its a possibility for it to turn up at anytime seeing as how its in the deck...but Its just odd that it was the next one seeing as how my question was not about the happiest subject. The deck I was using was the Deviant Moon, and the spread was the one prescribed by the rule book. The Deviant Moon spread. I'm not sure what more traditional spread it is most similar to.

Don't be fooled by the names. In the tarot, Death is actually a good card if upright.

Exactly, all cards have good qualities as lon as there upright, when death is reversed, then you may have a problem.

I never stop turning cards until my answer is given. Sometimes a spread on its own doesn't quite cut it. In fact I have a firm belief that when I start shuffling, if a card falls out, I never put it back in. I turn it over and leave it to the side and incorporate it into the rest of the reading. When I'm done with a spread and I need a little more info, I turn over the next three cards to give me more insight, sometime even 5 depending on how much more insight I need. I read these cards generically as influence and additional information pertaining to the reading. Only if I add a new question or wish for the cards to address a particular portion of the reading do I shuffle again. But sometimes all I "feel" the need to do is cut the cards to do this.

the death card means end of a matter, so if its reversed it means the matter is still on going
