Immortality

so i know a lot you of guys want to become immortal, but this is phyiscally impossible. yes there have been a lot of medical advancements, but immortality will never be reached. this is becuase the body of a human is not ment to live on more hundreds, or thousands, or even millions of years, your mind will go crazy, and you will forget your memories. your body will never be able to be the same afer thousands of years. however, immortality can be reached by doing something that gets you remebered. you are nothing but a body without your memories, thoughts, actions and ideas, but your name will be immortal becuase of your thoughts, actions and ideas. just a quick post on this subject i thought i might share.

I agree with the above. It is not physically possible. It is true what you say about names and actions living on. If you know somebody personally, friends and family, their death is very real. However, if you have only known these people from "fame"; from films, books, recordings, et al; then they never die. I know, for instance, that Pavarotti is dead; but I have recordings of that wonderful voice; to me, he is still alive.
But, real immortality can only be achieved in one way. Children! We are all the result of millions of years in human life. We carry the genes and DNA of all our ancestors. Our own genes and DNA will go on, while ever we have children, and our children have children. I have children, grandchildren, and G-grandchildren. Ergo, I am immortal!

I respectfully disagree. Although living forever is impossible (eventually death will catch up to you) I believe that some very intelligent people out there have extended their life span beyond the common 100ish year limit. Is it through a simple spell? no way! But even science is now breaching life and death boundaries by finding ways to restore human organs.
Magicians and witches are in every occupation, including science.

Time is relative and aging has been proven to be more of a state of mind then a reality. Magick is the manipulation of spiritual energy to directly influence physical energy or manifest the energy to a physical state (depending on your skill level).

If a necromancer can age faster by taking in the energy of death and working with it, then the logical assumption is that a counterbalance exists.

Would I want to figure out this counterbalance? No. I don't want to extend my life past my loved ones lifetime. But someone who had no one may have.

No one is going to admit it if they succeeded. No one.

I don't feel that the human mind has limits, we limit ourselves and our magick through doubt and discouragement. Telekinesis has been scientifically documented, the manipulation of physical matter by the mind itself! There isn't anything we cannot do. Only things we do not think we can do.

This is the same discussion people in the 1800's had about people flying, then airplanes were invented. Does an airplane fly because it can or does it fly because someone believed it could? If everyone in the world stopped believing that airplanes could fly, would they drop from the sky? We will never know.

According to science the bumble bee should not be able to fly, but it does! How? It's "impossible". =P

Perseption is different from person to person. Reality is not solid! Reality is nothing but perception. Are colorblind people truly colorblind or do they just have a different perception of color? We say green is green but that is a human perspective! What does green look like to every creature in the world? You cannot say. So why is our perception the only one? The "correct" one? It isn't! Its just one single perception massed into billions of humans.

From the day you are born, you are taught how to live, how to see, what to believe. Today for just a moment look around you and perceive the world through a questioning mind, the "innocent" mind of a child. Can you even do it?

I think its possible to maximize the lifetime. The secret of "eternal" life is to have a strong sex drive, for thats the only reason we exist physically, to perpetuate our race?
From a spiritual perspective, the mystery of life is a black hole. Your religious beliefs also determine how effectively you want to survive.
A weak soul is a mortal soul. A strong soul that fights depression is immortal. A strong soul/psyche is a prerequisite for long life.
Adversity and depression makes the individual old. In a scientific way I think we will manage to find "shortcuts" around the death.

AS science, and diet, improve, thereis every reason to believe that life can be extended. We are all living longer than we used to. But it matters not! If we all live way apst the now "normal", in the end we will still die.
As for telekinesis; many have claimed; all have failed!

as far as the biological factor goes, we age because our cells are damaged by the repeated replication necessary to grow and maintain life function.
as far as the mental aspect goes, we change over time based on our experiences. even if you could counteract the damage accumulating in your cells you would eventually feel like there is nothing left to live for, whether it is after 100 years, 1000, or maybe even 1000000.
beyond that, you would outlive everybody. you would eventually feel completely alone

That's true vlad, which is why I said death would eventually catch up. There is more to death than just a corpse. You can be dead inside yet still have a beating heart.

I disagree, almost anything is possible in magick and immortality can fall under the category of can do. It's mainly about how powerful you are in magick.
