Recurring Dream

About two and a half years ago, I started dating my now ex. About two months in, once or twice a week, I would get the same dream. It was the same situation, but different details.

I would be in a living room, not always the same house, sometime with a fire, sometimes a TV, but generally the same furniture and colour scheme, and wierdly, always the same rug on the floor. I'd be in a chair, holding a girl in my arms. Sometimes this girl would be a baby, sometimes she'd be a toddler, or older, a couple of times she was about 10 or 12, standing in front of me giving me a hug.

On the floor in front of us would be my now ex, and a boy. They'd always be doing something different, and like the girl, he'd be different ages. Sometimes they'd be doing homework, sometimes playing with trains, or making models of some sort, or just sitting reading.

In some dreams I'd be pregnant, or know that there was another child somewhere in the house, sometimes I'd see the child, with a book, in a corner, always another girl. And there were also times when I could see the girl, and was pregnant at the same time.

Another repeated thing was that there would always be two cats and a dog around the place, whether lying on the floor near us, or playing with toys. They'd always be there, not always the same animals, but always that combination.

Thing is, I have now split up with him, though I believe the break up was caused by a curse, that I will be getting rid of. However, the dreams haven't stopped, the same dreams, same scenarios, and I would like input really. Could these be prophetic dreams, like I suspect, or is it really just wishful thinking on my part?

What time do you usually see these dreams? They say dreams in the morning are more likely to be true or meaningful?

Well, because of health issues (the reason he gave for the break up, in case that's significant) I am generally not going to bed until about 3am anyway, and I'm usually awake again just four of five hours later, so definately morning. :)

Yeah i sure hope so. I cast two potent spells and he goes and bloody deletes me off msn! I like to think its because hes scared of contacting me. He is the kind of person that buries his head in the sand. Now thats staying positive. It takes weeks for spells to work. Mine have only just been a week so looking forward to results. Take care and good luck xx

Recurring dreams are not always identical in their content, however it will usually still be broadly consistent.
The finer details of your dream experience may change however the issue remains the same and your emotional response from that particular dream.
Dreams are one's unconscious expressions of our deepest memories, worries or fears that need to be faced consciously and worked through.Until we face them consciously they will continue to lurk in the depths of our unconscious and continue to resurface during sleep.

Think you may have been dreaming this situation because it is something you have been longing for in your unconscious mind. security, loving partner and a family although the details may have changed the issue is still the same. How did you feel when dreaming this? secure, happy, comfortable, loving mother etc.?
Could this be what your longing for but you might be afraid of it getting snatched away or fear of commitment?

Another issue it could be is from your childhood, How was your relationship with your parents and siblings (if you have siblings that is) Might you be longing for that same feeling when you were a child?

Now dreaming about your ex could be related to unresolved issues you two might still have after your breakup, you might not have faced them consciously and need to contact him for answers, maybe you secretly hope for a reconciliation and spending your life together? Either way your dreams are significant to you and only you can really determine their meaning.

Good Luck and be blessed.

Having reoccurring dreams can be frustrating. Reoccurring dreams are somewhat hidden messages. The reason why we keep having same dream over and over because there might be some importance to the meaning of this dream. And when this dream becomes a nightmare, that’s when we pay attention to it more. Usually recurring dreams are due to our present life situation. It could be because we are having problem coping with something traumatic that has happened in our life in the past or the present. It could also be because we are fearful of something or we are weak. Until we resolved the conflict in our life, these dreams will keep recurring. Nightmares are somewhat the same as having recurring dreams. It pertains to our current situation or past. Our fears that we have continued to ignore play a part in our nightmares. Our unexpressed and repressed emotions which are being brought back to our attention again. Also, nightmares can be caused by unresolved psychological conflicts or traumatic events and depression. Regardless of what causes the nightmare, we eventually have to deal with it in order for it to go away. The best to deal with reoccurring dreams and nightmares are to understand them. Find the cause of dream because sometimes there could be other reasons why you are having them. Reliving the dream when you are awake and write down the details of what you remember. With a little conscious effort, the reoccurring dreams and nightmares could be change. Final note, our reoccurring dreams and nightmares could be a reflection of our subconscious thoughts causing a rainbow of emotions meaning, it’s all in the mind. We just have to remember that the mind is very powerful.
