Quick Alter Question?
By:

Alright so I made my first alter yesterday, it's super pretty and Joss said the way I set it up would attract exactly what I wanted. That's dandy. But I was gonna instagram it, when I noticed I had these holographic, irridescent, plasic flower petals. I, on a whim, scattered those throughout the alter. Then, I noticed I couldn't see the sigil I carved onto the candle, so I outlined it with glitter glue.

The question? Will the plastic and glue make it less effective because they aren't natural? Or am I fine?

With love and spare glitter,

Eisley.

Altars are very personal, I don't think that adding something you like despite being artificial would make anything less effective. An altar is simply a place you can relax, meditate, give offerings to deities (if you have any), etc, there is nothing inherently magickal about an altar.

I would say if you like the glitter and plastic and glue then it is probably just fine. Some people go crazy on altars with printed photographs, paintings, handmade statues, glitter, glue, anything and everything they can think of to improve it, for them. If you have a particular deity in mind you can add items that relate to them, if it is simply an all purpose altar then anything that makes it personal to you is good enough.
