This is very kind of you to offer to do; however, before you set yourself up as a teacher about Wicca you might also indicate your qualifications to teach. How long have you been practicing? What resources did you use to learn? What books, etc are you going to be using in this class? How long have you been practicing?

Something I recommend to anyone looking for a Wiccan teacher is this article: http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=588889

And you might also want to remember that it is illegal in the USA for an adult (And that would be anyone age 18 and older) to teach Wicca to those who are not legally adults without the permission of their parents. If the parents object and bring charges against you you could end up paying heavy fines or even doing time in jail. It is something to consider before setting yourself up as a teacher.

I also note that in your previous account you were looking for someone to teach you about Wicca in November 1993. That being the case, I personally doubt that you should be setting yourself up as qualified to teach Wicca until you get several years of practice and study under your belt. While your heart is in the right place it is hardly fair to your students.

well first of all, i was born in 1995, so me posting in november of 1993 seems a little strange. i think you meant i posted that i was looking for a teacher with the account raven1995 in november. anyways, yes i don't have the actual requirements to teach, but i am learning. i am getting all my knowledge from scott cunningham books and from my class on magickaschool.com. i've been practicing for about a year now. i might not be qualified to teach. i just thought that since i'm learning this info, then i should share it with others. i agree lark, when you say i should wait until i am more experienced before i teach (at least that's what it sounds like you are telling me.), but i feel like it might help build my knowledge as well as others.

Raven Roth. I started learning witchcraft when I was six years old.
I am now 81, and still learning!
75 years, and I would not dare to set myself up as a teacher! Especially on-line! Guide, yes. Teach, no!

Can someone tell me what the benefit of such a certificate would be? Would it give you an advantage in getting innitiated into an oathbound mystery coven? Is it a degree? Or can those only be given by a coven in person? I have done alot of research and reading lately, but nothing about this. I did have someone mail me on facebook and offer to teach me for free but i dont have a computer. Just my phone with internet access.

Yes Raven, you're right. I meant November 2013. And yes, I do think it would be wiser and also better for any students you might encounter if you would wait a bit until you have at least a couple of years of experience and training under your belt before you attempted to teach.

Barbi, if you're talking about a certificate such as some on-line schools of Wicca issue their students I can pretty well tell you that the only person it is meaningful is the individual who earned it. It will not count towards initiation into a coven as each coven would expect you to go through their unique training program before considering you for initiation. Nor is it the same as the degrees granted in certain Traditions. That's not to say that one cannot take pride in accomplishing that certificate through diligent study. But it will hold little to no meaning in the greater Wiccan community.

Okay thank you. Thats exactly what i was asking. I hope that others will benefit from my asking as well. I am sure alot can be learned from the online schools too. But when i checked out the website and saw that the classes were on wicca, i got confused. Knowing that wicca is an oathbound innitiatory mystery religion with its own degree system.
