Well, it says here

"Alternatively, when another strong desire arises, this desire is sacrificed (forgotten) and the sigil is concentrated on the instead. After holding the sigil in the mind for as long as possible, it is wise to banish it by evoking laughter."

I'm not sure that I understood this, so can someone explain what does it actually mean and what happens with another strong desire.. And when do I hold it in my mind, and how do I banish it.. Finding something funny, or?

To me this sounds like when concentrating on a sigil and another desire arises (not relating to your sigil in hand) you forget it!
And focus on the desire at hand. I wouldn't banish the new desire, just forget it. BUT, i would banish the sigil after having concentrated on it as Carroll said.
