Rules of tarot
By:
Hey :)

One of my close friends has used tarot cards in the past. I am thinking of maybe buying a deck. However, I recall my friend saying that you are not meant to buy them yourself. Is this true? He also said that nobody else should touch them.

I bought mine. They say that you shouldnt let your tarot deck or any tool used for magic absorb other people's energy, because it can interfere with your work or readings. Smudge your cards with sage after you let someone touch them or even do a reading for someone else.

You do that too! I keep a tibetain quartz with mine, and cleanse them with smoke after reading anyone.

My first were my mothers, passed down. But I disliked the Waite deck and instead chose the Artist's Inner Vision Tarot. I picked them but they were ordered and paid for by a friend who told me to pick a birthday present. I was 14 then and almost 12 years later I still have the book and complete tarot deck. =) I was the first to touch them but I didn't buy them. I like upholding such "rules" for the sake of tradition.

when i starrted reading i was told that your first tarot deck should be a gift. mine was a christmas gift from my mother. i do not necessarily feel that others buying or touching them is a bad thing as it ads to the personality of the energy. as well as forms an energy connection from the cards to the querent during a reading.

You're not meant to buy your own deck is just a mere "superstition" in my opinion. I actually bought my own deck and it works fine. And with the nobody touching, I have a little sister who loves to use them cause she says it looks like King Arthur but afterwards when I'm using them I pour out my energy to my cards and visualize others energy leaving the tarot cards.
