Halo; Like/Dislike Why?

I'm starting this thread because I have received several messages commenting on my latest avatar pic. A couple were compliments which of course I appreciated, but a few were asking me to change it because it's a Halo pic. Yeah, Halo has nothing to do with this site, but neither do many other pics that people choose for avatars. I have seen a couple of racist/prejudice pics that people choose and I can understand asking someone to change that, but what is so wrong with Halo? What's so bad about it?

For those of you who don't know:
Halo is a first person shooter game in which you play as a cyborg soldier fighting an alien race referred to as the "Covenant" and as usual the aliens are the bad guys because they want to destroy all other races(specifically Humans). The Covenant is on some kind of religious trip believing that they must "purge" the galaxy of all unfit species, and that means everyone but themselves. In the first game you start out on a ship and, long story short, you crash on a ring-world called Halo that turns out to be a prison/research world for a parasite called "The Flood" and you have to destroy Halo before the parasites can spread. That done, the last scene shows your character flying away in a small ship watching Halo explode.

So why dislike Halo so much? I can understand not liking the game and, especially considering that the first Halo game is an old game with poor graphics, I can understand why many people may not want to play it, but why dislike it so much that you don't want to even see pics of it from other people online?
There is nothing in the game, from what I saw, that could be considered racist, sexist(except that the only two girls in the game were rarely seen, if you consider that sexist), or prejudice in any way. It's actually a really good game for both entertainment and reflexes.

To keep this from being an all-out "Attack Halo" thread, I'd also like to hear from the people that DO like Halo.
What's you're favorite part and why?

Yeah, that's another reason I picked it. It kind of looked like that to me too, or Chi to be more specific. It looked to me like some form of Energy Manipulation.
If my pic is supposed to be accurate to the game that the person in his hand is Cortanna, an AI-Construct that can interface with control centers(both in ships and in buildings) and his suit. She gives him advice and helps to control ships/buildings with controllable features. In the game the only 'building' that she interfaced with was Halo, from the command center.

Basically she's an artificially intelligent hologram that can be plugged into computer consoles and once plugged in she can take control of them.

I guess so. One of them has confessed to having been joking, another is just tired of Halo 'fanatics' and some people do take fandom a bit to far so that's understandable I think.
