What is Necromancy?

Hey. Someone I know is apparently a necromancer. We re not very close, so I dont know much about her. However I dont really know very much about necromancy, so I was wondering if you guys could give me and my other curious friend some information as to what necromancy is in general? Purely curiousity :3
