Starting out

I am a 15 year old witch, who is just starting out. I don't have the money to buy the supplies it seems you need, and my mom dosen't really like it. I have no place where I could even practice on my own or where it is quiet. Does anybody know what I can do.

Hi... I am also only 15... And I know how you feel... I don't k ow if you can do the same.. But I usually sneek out and go down to the confluence by the river... If you can't then try finding your own special place where you can focus and feel at peace... Don't go to a place where you feel afraid or where you don't feel safe...
As for the supplies... That is where is gets hard... Stuff that is suspicious like... Amulets and crusifixes you have to make your own plan.. But stuff like herbs and plants you can build a green house.. It will cost less to grow your own rather then buy the stuff..

You do not need the tools, when i first started i used an old plastic cup a tree stump in a wood and some strange old candles. Its not what you use its the way you believe and the way you feel.

Feel free to message me with any questions ill do my best to help.
Find anywhere you can even if its in the bathroom. As long as your comfortable and can concentrate.

What you need first and foremost is a firm grasp on the basics, start by meditating, learning to channel energy, opening/closing a circle, grounding, centering. All these things are necessary before you go delving further into the intricacies of more advanced witchcraft. If you look around the site, you will find plenty of articles to the things I mention here.

With meditation I myself need quiet to begin with. I personally cannot abide meditation music, but I do know others living in a noisy environment will use it in order to block out annoying sounds. Many of these can be found on youtube, even spotify for free.

I personally do most of my meditative work in the morning, I get up earlier than everyone else anyway, so it works out for me. I am by no means saying miss out on sleep, but if you can go to bed earlier and get up earlier, you may find it easier.

As for a beginning meditative practice, watching the breath is the most basic, yet one of the most effective techniques of accomplishing many aspects of meditation. It is the practice which will always be in my own routine as a firm foundation.

Simply sit in a position you can hold for a period of time, to begin with say 15 minutes, preferably with a straight back, and simply focus your attention on the breath and mentally repeat "The breath moves in, the breath moves out". If other thoughts come into your mind, simply allow them to come and go and draw the attention back to the breath. Don't fight the thoughts, simply pay no attention to them at all.

Once you have done this for a few weeks I would imagine you will know about the contents of your mind, how it works, what needs controlling and other aspects of your being. You may also begin to sense the internal energies within you- which to me is the next step.

Simply having endurance, deterimination, and being open and receptive will aid you greatly.

Whilst meditating read all that you can about magic, there are many pdfs which can be found online. If the books signify basics or state that a practice should be upheld for a certain amount of time, listen. Do not run before you can walk.

Some Books I personally recommend-

Modern Magick by Donald Michael Kraig.

12 Steps to Spiritual Enlightenment by Dr Israel Regardie.

Spells and How They Work by Janet and Stuart Farrar.

Raja Yoga by Swami Vivekananda.

There are countless others. If it is more witchcraft you are interested in I would start with the Farrar book. Ritual magick is Regardie and Kraig, however, Kraig also touches upon more witchcraft type practices as well. I personally think Kraig's book is one of the best out there. Regardie's is short and sweet and is designed to be practiced over the course of a year.
