Hi Lily,

There is an excellent website that discusses the history of the various Sabbats and offers some suggestions as to how to celebrate them, and why we celebrate them at http://www.witchessabbats.com/

And here's some books that I'd suggest that give a lot of suggestions for ways to celebrate:

"Circle Round" by Starhawk

"Celebrating the Seasons of Life: Beltane to Mabon" by Ashleen O'Gaea "Celebrating the Seasons of Life: Samhain to Ostara" by Ashleen O'Gaea

"Eight Sabbats for Witches" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"Wheel of the Year: Living the Magical Life" by Pauline Campanelli and Dan Campanelli

The next Sabbat that we'll be celebrating is Beltane which falls on the night of 4/30/2014, so that might be a good one to start making plans for.

each one has a specific story, purpose, and ritual, research them all, but the next one is Beltane, so focus on that one, then move on to the next as the wheel turns. [For Beltane my coven usually has a picnic] its a celebration of the God and Goddesses wedding, so think about wedding parties and what emotions surround them. [The good, not the in-laws fighting] its also a time for young lovers and many have their handfastings around this time. Dancing around the Maypole is another common activity [though how many solitaries own one of those?] I personally feel Beltane is one of those you should celebrate with others, so if possible try to throw a party, or look into a local gathering on that day [if you are aloud to attend, I don't want to tell a minor to go hang with strangers after all]

If you're by yourself though, go for a walk in the woods, speak with the Lord and Lady, make them a wedding gift as an offering, stuff like that.
