Hmmm....Well you should look for some herbs that help with digestion if someone's belly is swollen. Find ones that are safe to ingest and make a tea.
If it is spiritual evil, there are many herbs that help remove evil. I usually use Frankincense, Rosemary, angelica, Blessed/holy Thistle, Dragon's blood, Myrrh, Hyssop, and/or sandalwood for when I feel severe negativity or evil. Usually I mix several of them together in a mortar and pestle and ether burn them as a incense with a charcoal disk in a fireproof dish (I use a cauldron) or keep them in a sachet and keep it with you, or you can make oils or potions to wash yourself in (Just make sure the herbs aren't going to bother the skin or harmful to you).

Ritual baths and showers REALLY help remove negativity, just visualize washing away the evil

Stones are good for this too, and there are many spells to banish evil

My suggestion is first take a ritual bath. Draw out the hot water, scatter sage, thistle blossoms, and lavender into the water (or any combination of the three). Swirl it around a bit. Then slip in. Just let go, relax, and imagine the negativity leaving your body. Afterwards rub a quartz over the inflicted area and visualize that no more negativity shall return to you. Let it rest on that area for the rest of the bath. When you exit the bath, air dry, so that as the moisture is drawn into the air from your body, any remaining negativity is taken with it.
Best of luck!

Hm, I'd freely add something for educational purposes, of course. =)

Sure, cleanse yourself and banish negative energies that float around your place and thus spiritually improve yourself, try to make yourself a better person, etc.
But it want make you pure.
Nothing you can spiritually do will make you pure, nor physically. You'll always be influenced by emotional thought forms, and you'll obviously still have your nature in your inner states, and you should be absolutely okay with this since nobody requires from you to be pure.

As an addition to the thread people actually associate this with enlightement.

To begin with Enlightenment doesn't make you pure, it makes you enlightened. In some people's opinions, enlightenment actually does the exact opposite. Specifically expressed through the story of Adam and Eve (just one of many examples).
Secondly the Great Work expresses the ultimate enlightenment of man, the union between man and the "Divine Mind". Ultimate divinity or final evolution describes a type of ego, this is not man in the form of man becoming pure, it's man in the form of divinity becoming one with perfection. This is basically describing an afterlife kind of thing.
Ipsissimus is the same kind of thing. This is dealing with a higher self type of figure and the unity between it and yourself. However it does not express purity or even perfection, it simply expresses divinity unless being looked at from the Quabalistic perspective which is actually referring to shedding the imperfections of humanity.

So to say humans in this simple form not being capable of absolute purity is true. Even if somehow you manage spiritual purity which you probably can't without some form of ego-death, your physical body is full of impurities. I'd provide you with statistics on that one, but this is not a science website.

Now there are many people in the world who believe you can keep your humanity in the form it currently exists, and still obtain purity. To be honest though it's a belief of those who need to do a bit more research on what they're talking about.

Personally I think the goal for us here, in the current state we're in, should not be trying to rid yourself of impurities completely but to try and understand them and work with them to simply make yourself a better person.

Does the person have congestive heart failure? Trouble breathing?

Create a cleansing water with essential oils for purification.
Conduct a cleansing spell for mind body and soul. There are a couple good simple ones on this site.

Make sure there is nothing medical going on, a distended abdomen as your described can be caused by fluid retention from heart problems, such as endocardiatis. Silent killers, that can be influenced by negative spiritual attachments and curses.

My little sister had this symptom, and endocardiatis, and a sad sad life. She committed suicide at 19, and 3 days after she died in the room she was in we all saw a black shadow man, a bad one, as if he was attached to her and was looking for her. He was found looking at her nick knacks by her boyfriend who thought it was a burglar, but soon realized it had no face. It left a few days later.

Also,
if you make a cleansing bath or potion, use argimony in it. this herb is excellent at repelling negative attachments and healing. You can sew it inside the pillow of an affected person, with a little mugwort.
