Ordering a BOS

I'm thinking of Ordering a new BOS for Yule instead of simply making one myself. Is this a good idea, or should I go to my local coven and ask them to help make one? I'm aiming for a pretty big one, atleast 5 inches thick, 10 1/2" wide and 12 inches long made from Parchment or Bio paper that's thick and will withstand many years. So is this a Help me job or a order online one? :)

Before you buy your own Book of Shadows, I suggest you make your own first. A brought Book of Shadows won't have much value to you then one you would make with your bare hands. You would have more of a connection to a made BoS than a brought one. I am not saying to not buy it. (It's good to have a professional BoS -I don't have one yet though, lol-)

My Book of Shadows is just a simple big binder with all the stuff I need for reference. You can go to your locan coven and ask for help, but you may only copy what you will.

Ive been practicing magic for 2years, I dont have a BoS. I dont see the need for one, all i have on paper is a big binder of spells & articles.

Well, a Book of Shadows is like a Witch's Journal, in which you can write about your Magickal experiences and if your spells worked or not. I don't really write stuff like that down, so I can see where you're going at.

So you have a binder with spells and articles, right? That is your Grimore, which holds said spells and articles, herbs, and all the other stuff related to spells.

I agree, I feel that it is better to make your own. I have a binder with regular lined paper, so I can easily add/remove things and move them around. You can't really do that with a store bought one. To some people that may not matter though, so ultimately its a personal choice.

I agree with you too. I just finished decorating my own Book of Shadows yesterday, I felt so happy and I couldn't stop saying how much I loved it. It really is a connection between the Witch and the Journal.

Hi LeeCullen,
My suggestion you should make your own it will have your energy.
I made my own is pretty big is made out of parchment paper very expensive, but i started it when i was 30 and now im an old witch. What i do I buy the parctment every 2 months and put it in a safe place and when ever I want to use a page I sew it to the book.
You can talk to your coven, i belief they will tell you to do your own.
I can't remember the site but theres a place in England they will do it to your specification but they are very expensive.
