bad dreams help

Hi, my name is Sarah. I'm new here. I wonder if someone could offer some advice about bad dreams. I know the general feeling is that dreams are the subconscious sending us messages but mine are different. For example, during the last week of the last season of walking dead, I had three zombie dreams. Now my husband and I are watching Lost on DVD, we're in the second season and I keep having dreams about my children being in danger. I wake up feeling tired and depressed. Any advice on how to prevent them, magical or not, will be helpful. Thanks :)

your mind is just consumed with the story. it happens to me from time to time. you might want to take a night or two off from watching lost. try drinking some te to calm your nerves, chamomile is good, so long as you don't have a ragweed allergy.

I've tried chamomile for insomnia before and it didn't do me any good, although I know some people swear by it. I'll give it a try though, since this is different. The problem is I'm hooked on the show, lol.

You clearly have a fear in the back of your mind of losing your loved ones and those very close to you. You have to assure yourself that they're going to be okay and if it's their time to go they'll always be in your heart. And don't fear being alone either. Tell yourself that you are independent and that if you lose a loved one that they'll always be someone else there for you.

Just telling us your nightmares can also help a great deal to get rid of them. Talking things out helps a lot. Before you go to bed remind yourself it's just a dream that you might have and to help fill your head with happy thoughts try reading a book. One or two chapters a night, just enough to get the ideas of the book in your head and push out all the negative energy and your fears away. Meditation also works.

Often times we have it so good in our lives in certain areas that we have to release tension in our nightmares based on fears we have in the back of our minds. We have to let it all out in an act so we can see how we will deal with the problem if it ever happens in real life. Dreams are amazing once you figure out what they mean, but that's the hard part.

You can also cast a spell for stop having bad dreams, here is one:

This is a very simple ritual, easy for everyone to perform. It should work for people who have repeating nightmares (children as well ; a friend of mine reported it helped him with insomnia, though)

You need:

one white candle (not big)

one white or silver ribbon (it should be long enough to fit your wrist)

any piece of silver/ an object made of silver that you don't constantly wear on yourself and sleep with it (it can be a ring you don't wear, or a silver cup, even a silver spoon)

Sit in the dark in your bedroom, put the ribbon around the candle, light the candle and put it some place opposite to your face. Watch the flame burning for couple of minutes and relax... then close your eyes and imagine beautiful scenes... which are, in your mind, related to emotions of happiness and peace. It could be anything, it's quite an individual thing. Meditate for as long as you wish... When you feel relaxed and able to focus on one single thing, approach the window, holding the burning candle in your hands, and look at the Moon. If you can't see it from your window, or any other window at your place, or from the yard, just keep on standing there and then just look at the Sky. Say these words:

The Moon is my friend
who's listening to me
bringing the beauty
into my dreams.
The stars are here
forever to shine,
bringing serenity
and peace of mind.
When I close my eyes
they won't be gone,
keeping me safe
till the dawn.

You can repeat these words for as many times you want, if you feel you need to.

After this, extinguish the flame, in case the candle haven't burned down, take off the ribbon and put it around your wrist before going to bed. Leave the candle and a piece of silver on your window till the next morning. Then remove both of them, and the silver ribbon from your wrist. You can repeat this ritual 1-3 times a week, always using a new candle and a new ribbon. However, collect the ribbons. When you feel your nightmares are gone and you got rid of them, you can still go doing this little ritual once a week. It can be done on any night of the week.

I would also recommend you to go to some sites about that, but remember- every person has bad dreams.

Blessed be.

Try a dream catcher or dream pillow. Both of these magic items will help trap negative energies that cause bad dreams and promote peaceful sleep.

A simple dream pillow

Obtain some material big enough to create a small pillow. Sew three sides of the pillow together. Then sew the last side together leaving a whole big enough to fill the pillow through. Stuff the pillow with herbs such as lavender, chamomile, valerian, yarrow, basil, clove, and fennel. You may also research herbs and pick the ones you feel will work best for you. You can also put in other objects that are for protection and aid in positive sleep such as feathers or a piece of paper with protection symbols or other symbols you feel will help. Once you are done filling the pillow sew the hole shut. Please the pillow under your normal pillow or on top near your head. I personally like to have my dream pillow laying over my eyes or close to my head.

Bad dreams change from person to person. My personal advice will be really really meager, but it's all that I can think of to say.

If you watch something that makes you feel these ways, try to avoid it. Don't avoid it completely, but avoid it a little bit. Bad dreams are harsh and they get you caught up in many things, but you cannot take them seriously, if you do they haunt you even more.

I myself have a bad dream problem. And if they get to bad I try to imagine something drastic changing the dream. But that's only for a certain type of dream, that is in the rare occasion when you realize that you are dreaming, no matter how dream like it seems. You need to look for things in the dream that don't seem like they should. This isn't always easy, because you think that in the dream it is you, or your family.

As for magical remedies, I don't really have any. But I would recommend that you get Lavender Incense. And if that doesn't help you at all the you should probably put your emotions into something soothing before you go to bed.

Sorry for posting here as it isn't 100% ontopic, but what causes bad dreams? I've never really had a bad dream, and I never feel any dreams while asleep, but sometimes I have a feeling of myself waking up and dreaming, but i'm awake with eyes open, and lost is an epic show, Imagine how it's just a show and claire is just a character on a show.
