Hi this is Magicwiccan,

I want to know if you can perform simple spells with just a wand and words. All the spells I find require many ingredients that don't even grow in my country. Anybody know of any?

Thanks>

Hi, many simple spells can be found on this site using only candles, words, concentration and focus. The root of magick is belief. Ingredients are used to give the ritual/spell more depth but many can be perfomed with just the above. Love and Light.

Yes you can cast a spell with just a wand and words.

You can cast a spell with just words or even just your thoughts. Spells are just tools used to effect reality and cause something to happen.

While no spell is guaranteed they are usually flexible in materials, especially those of more simple design. You can normally find replacement materials to better suit your needs or abilities.

I would only suggest "going by the book" if you want to keep a traditional sense to it, or if you're creating a very specific potion, etc.

So as long as you keep the general idea and intent of the spell you should be fine.
And do feel free to explore your options and tweak the spells you use to better suit you/your own style.

lol This is why we often suggest you write your own spells, because it's just easier. ;)

People the world over have often cast spells without ever knowing it.
If you have ever blown out the candles on a cake and made a wish, you have cast a spell. Pulled a wishbone? That's another spell. Thrown salt over your shoulder for luck? It's a spell.
A spell is a ritual wish. Like a prayer. The difference being that a prayer is asking for help from a higher power (Deity), a spell is a do-it-yourself exercise.
