I agree with Sagesk:
Mabon is thanks and blessings -- and because of that, it seems like a good time to give to those less fortunate than ourselves. If you find yourself blessed with abundance at Mabon, why not give to those who aren't? Invite friends over for a feast, but ask each of them to bring a canned food, dry goods, or other non-perishable items? Donate the collected bounty to a local food bank or homeless shelter.
I did see this on a website and thought it was a great idea that I will be doing.
I agree with both Sagesk and Goldmoon, Mabon is the time of year to give thanks and be grateful for what you have.
I like to bake on Mabon, usually things with pumpkins and apples because they make delicious pastreys and are in season where I live. Pumpkin bread and applesauses are two very common foods to be made during Mabon.
Also consider giving back to the enviornment or community on Mabon. Clean up your local park or take the time to donate some old clothes and toys. Do some community service and spend some time with the enviornment. Look at the changing leaves if you live in that part of the world.
Overall, just be thankful on Mabon and give back to the world, spend it with people you love and enjoy the holiday :D
Blessed be,

Mabon is on the Fall Equinox which varies each year from September 21-23. This year the Equinox falls on September 22.
For all those interested in information on Mabon and suggestions for things you might want to do I would suggest this site: http://www.witchessabbats.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17&Itemid=28 (Remember to take out the spaces)
As others have told you, Mabon is Thanksgiving for the fruits of life. Don't worry too much about your family being Christian, just remember that all Christian festivals were at first Pagan. Ask questions. Why eggs at Easter? Why holly and ivy at Christmas? Why are pictures of Mary and baby Jesus exact copies of Isis and Horus? Is a coven actually 13? (Like Jesus and 12 disciples)
Very interesting, the fact that a coven has 13 members and the disiples and jesus being 13. Thanks for sharing that, I love learning something new like that everyday :D
Blessed be,
