The Pentagram

Also known as... The Star of Knowledge, The Endless Knot, Pentalpha, Pentacle of the Viryin, the Seal of the Microcosm, Pentacle of the Templars, and the Seal of Solomon. Of course there were other names by people that believed in god or was a Christin... Witch's Font, Wizard's star, Goblin's Cross, Druid's Foot, and Devil's Sign. The Pentagram has been used by Kabbalists, Celts, Egyptians, Christians, and Gypsies.

Fire is hot and dry. It symbolized by an upward-pointing triangle, Being volatile and ascending.

Air is hot and most. Its triangle is crossed, putting a brake on the ascending nature of fire.

Water is cold and moist. As the descending element, its sign is a downward-pointing triangle.

Earth is cold and dry. It halts the fall of water, so its triangle is crossed.

Making the Pentacle

1. You will need a solid disk of wood, stone, clay, or animal horn, about 4 in (10 cm) in diameter. Leaving a 1 in (2.5 cm) border around the outside of the disk, inscribe a hexagram, which is a 6 pointed seal of Solomon, onto one side. This represent the macrocosm, the godhead.

2. Inscribe a pentagram on the other side. This represents a human being with spread legs and outstretched arms and symbolizes the microcosm, man as the image of god. The pantacle therefore represents the mage in relationship with the divine.

3. On the border of the macrocosm side, inscribe the hebrew characters for the archangle uriel.

Hopefully this will help some of you about the Pentagram...
