Just starting out

I'm very new to this, open to any advice people may have. Just a little background: have always been interested in wicca, was a little bit afraid of it being associated with evil, I know now that is not true. Lately, I've been wanting or feeling I need a change in my life, spiritually. I started reading about Wicca and witchcraft, and meditation and astral projection, found it could be calming (meditation), something I've been lacking in my life. Also, some other issues, that the rituals and meditation could help me learn how to better handle these stressful situations. I came across the Goddess Hekate, and had been searching for a crossroad to perform a ritual at if I had the courage, to ask her to help me with ways to alleviate these heavy feelings I have. I was disappointed that I couldn't find a four way crossroads, but upon further readings on Hekate, she is representative of the three way crossroads. I forgot to Al's mention that I have started an exercise program to help with stress, and this included nature hikes. Anyway as I'm reading about Hekate and the crossroads, the place I've been walking only has crossroads that are Y shaped. Also, before I had asked her for a sign to let me know that she may think I was worthy, I came across a snake along my walking path. Snakes are also representative of her too, as you know. Also had seen a couple of black dogs running up ahead of me into the woods. I know now that this is what I want to do, and have meditated and said many blessings to her, and felt her near me sometimes. I have left some breads and fruits at a couple of the crossroads for her. I haven't set up an alter yet, though I have collected a few things to use, natural things. Am I doing this right? I kinda feel like I am, but I have no frame of reference, except the internet. I have read she is loving but firm... Im not perfect, do you have to be? Open to all comments or criticisms.

Here are some good sources for you:

On Hekate:

Greek Deities and Spirits, and Cults:

You do not need an altar, that is a choice. The religion Hekate comes from is Hellenic Polytheism or Hellenismos also called Hellenism. Since she is khthonic/chthonic this means underworld deity offerings to her would traditionally be buried rather than burnt like those you would burn for Olympians.

Pardon me, White, but I don't feel it's your place to say that Wicca is the way to go. For some people it is, for some it is not. I began on the Wiccan path, believing it was for me and yet it wasn't. I just don't feel it's fair for you to say that. Just let everyone find their own path, y'know?

I found metal medium sized fire pit, could this be used as an altar? Outside, of course.

Of course it can. However, you don't need to go out and buy anything to begin practicing magic. I'd recommend studying as much as possible and deciding what direction you wish to go on your path before you throw your money away on overpriced new age items. You seem to be doing just fine in that aspect. And no one is perfect, so don't expect yourself or your own practice to be. Good luck.

Does anyone know if the dark moon occurs on May 24th. I've been reading about phases, and I think 05/24 may be it, anyone know for sure?
