Is your god all powerful?
By:
I recently was having an interesting and civil conversation with a christian. And it got me thinking, if I thought my patron goddess was all powerful. The answer to that I think is no. Or at least perhaps she chooses not too. While she is of course extremely powerful, more so than I could comprehend I'm sure,is she truly all powerful or any other god for that matter? Im inclined to believe that no deity really is.

How about you and your god/s? Also what do you you define as a god?

-Thanks

All Gods are powerful, they're just some who are a little bit more powerful than others.

It all depends on if you believe in God! If you believe your God is all powerful, then your God is all powerful!
I am an Atheist, so no God has any power over me! I don't believe in Gods!

True that Brysing. I think its a lot like law of attraction. If you believe your God and Goddess are powerfull then they certainly are. If you belive that your Deity will bless you in a certain situation/spell/ritual whatever the case may be. Then you will surely be blessed.

If you believe in a God or Goddess, but you don't think that they are powerful. Then I suggest you try and find a different Deity which will suit your personality more and which will help you connect with them on a higher level than currently.

'To ere is human, to forgive divine'

On one hand yes, on the other no. Deities are very powerful, but most have strengths and weaknesses. If you wish to gain wisdom, a deity of knowledge would be very powerful, but don't ask them to help you in a fight. The Christian God is an interesting one, the old testament he was like a kid with a magnifying glass and everyone else was the ants. In the new testament he's a lot calmer and kinder, he apparently knows and sees all, while I guess that would make him all powerful, I feel he has flaws [like knowingly putting a temptation in the garden with curious beings] despite this, as ants, it is not our place to question higher beings... Unless we have a close relationship with them I guess.

I believe any Diety that claims to be all powerful is just having delusions of grandeur. I call on Spirits not Dieties.

I myself am I Christian and I think there's no reason for a god to prove themselves to be all powerful. As a god they would of course have the power to do what they want. Many people of various faiths at some point in their life be it through prayer or meditation have most likely asked for some unmistakable sign that their deity is listening, but based on what I've seen the signs they receive, if any, are subtle. A being as powerful as what you would call a god would surely have no compulsion to cause earthquakes, miracles, etc...to prove their existence as that's where the concept of faith comes into play. In other words when you think of any god think of "Why would they feel the need to prove their power? rather than Are they all powerful?". In the different pagan pantheons there are of course descriptions of battles between these gods and feats they perform that would indicate who might be considered the strongest god of that pantheon, though each one seems to have their strengths & weaknesses.
