Hello - complete newbie
By:
Hello all,

I'm completely new to magick but I have always felt myself drawn to it. I'm in no rush to start casting spells (although I eventually would like to reach the stage where I can do so effectively), and I am looking for an online community to join and chat with while I begin self-studying.

I've bought two books to start me off (Before You Cast A Spell, and Modern Magick).

Any hints or tips not already on here will be gratefully received.

Welcome to SOM. The community here is very friendly and the site itself is filled with great info. I would suggest to read the newbie central articles and start reading the books you bought. Remeber knowledge is power and before casting a spell you must learn how to ground yourself, clear your mind, visualize and intent. Meditation is key. Soon you'll be able to cast a spell, but take your time and know as much info as you possibly can. I hope you enjoy your stay.

Blessed be.

Also I suggest that you have a look at these books

Hello!

Also I would find some subjects in particular that interest you.
Now you can study all magic but the problem is that creates unnecessary dabbling sometimes(Never dabble).

I also suggest Occultism simplified by Willis F. Whitehead
It can educate you on the different types of people(s) In the occult and How some of it works.

Don't be a fluffy!!!!!They are annoying!.

Remember everything has a science behind it, Even if we don't know the science that makes it work yet!(IMHO)

Someone who beleives magic is like what you see in hollywood movies and that it is possible to change oneself into werewolfs, vampires, mermaids and etc. That is a fluff.

Welcome, welcome. I'm Njaara, and I still consider myself a student. There are a lot of knowledgable people here on the site. Feel free to ask anything, and someone will be there with an answer.

Also, a book I find handy, since it has almost everything basic that you'll need to start a BoS, is "The Wiccan Handbook." Love it.

Best,
Njaara
