Magick

Post # 1
Umm, hi. I'm new to spells of magick and my name is Jason. I'm technically not a Wiccan as of yet (I'm afraid to tell my parents that I want to be a Wiccan because I'm afraid that they will look at me with disgust and tell me to never mention witchcraft to them ever again. One of my parents is Christian, the other is Jewish). So I was wondering if magick will still work for me anyways. Please give me your thoughts.

Sure, magick will work if you put in the time to study it. Studying will give you more time to gain years of age. lol Start here;

Good luck! Also, Wicca is a religion. Witchcraft is a practice. One can be a witch without being Wiccan. BB

Well, if you're serious about learning how to do magic and with starting from the rock-bottom then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.

You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.

Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.

So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. Here's the books I suggest:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson

"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig

You probably don't want to tell your parents using the term 'witchcraft', 'magic/magick', or 'wizard', because those terms have been used throughout history to mean bad things. You should explain to them that you want to study about life or something like that. Parents tend to understand something if it is understandable, but people will usually be afraid/angry if they encounter anything abnormal, like practicing magick. If you bring the idea on them slowly they will probably understand. PM me if you have any problems or questions, I'm always happy to help people with problems they might have.

There is one problem with that proposal, lark. I already know that magick is the channeling of ones energy in order to do something that people who do not know how to use their energy can't do such as levitating someone. I have learned everything I can in the past month about Wicca and I am in the process of mustering up the cleave to tell my parents that I want to convert my religion. I have done research before even considering trying spells. I want to be a Wiccan not just for the spells, but for the religious aspect. I had a vision on Halloween as I was sleeping of a woman in a dress of green silk, eyes that shined like the ocean, golden ivy laced with grass to make a crown on her head, an angular face that seemed as if it were sculpted out of clay, and a voice that sounded like the most beautiful songbird that ever was. She spoke to me about the Wiccan religion and how it was meant for me. I still can't explain it. In other words, the spell should work, but they're not

I'm pretty sure if you inform your parents in what your doing is good and explain just basic things then they'll be fine. Ignorant people tend to be scared of things they don't know and once you explain things they'll probably be more accepting, since I'm pretty sure all they want is for you to be happy. That being said make sure you know what your talking about first, I'm pretty sure you didn't learn everything you can within a month. Take it slow and just keep studying and when the time comes leave your parents speech less with the information you have learned. Also you can still be a christian and study wiccan, you don't have to be stuck to one religion and if your spells are not working then clearly your doing something wrong, so keep studying and everything will come into place.
